Is a Pumpkin a Living Thing? A Kindergarten Science Unit

Description

In this unit, students investigate to define, understand, and use the terms living and nonliving in reference to the natural and designed world. They construct a set of criteria to identify the characteristics, processes, and needs of living things so that they can sort a set of objects (realia or photographs) into categories of living and non-living, and explain their reasoning. The purpose is to identify plants as living things and be able to support this idea with evidence.
