Supervisor Responsibilities

The university supervisor’s primary role is to provide a systematic and consistent presence during the student teaching experience.

The supervisor is the liaison between the School of Education and the K-12 school partners. In this capacity, the supervisor provides program information to the mentor teacher and credential candidate.

In addition, the university supervisor supports and guides the use of co-teaching strategies, conducts observations, provides honest feedback for the candidate and schedules 3-way conferences at the middle and the end of the semester.

Finally, the supervisor acts as a confidant and advocate for the candidate, as well as a support to the mentor teacher. The supervisor facilitates and models effective communication and handles difficult situations that might come up.
