Grade 2: Seed Dispersal by Animals (2-LS2-2)

Description

The focus of this unit is what an animal’s role is in dispersing seeds. We open the unit with the phenomenon of how a tree got halfway around the world and propose our dilemma. Students explore how animals are a huge part of dispersing seeds through experimenting with different types of fur animals can have, and taking notes on how animals poop also disperses seeds. The goal is to have students explore animals through experiments and notes and be able to apply what they have learned to answer the dilemma by building a model of their own animal that has a role in seed dispersal and explain it.
