Description
This unit focuses on the phenomenon of biomimicry to engage students in the evolutionary concept of genetic variation and its effect on some individual’s probability of survival. The students use jeweler’s loupes to examine a variety of animal and plant adaptations. The students then apply their knowledge to complete a Biomimicry Design Challenge from the Biomimicry Institute.
