Description
This unit highlights the first five days of a larger 21-day unit about chicks. Students learn about the life cycle of chicks before they hatch, as well as the basic needs of these animals. Prior to this unit, students were scaffolded information about plants and what they need to survive. They collected data on the different needs of animals and thought deeply about the needs of baby chicks. The main goal of this unit is to gather information about chicks and the things they require to live in order to construct a shelter in which a chick could live. At the end of the larger 21-day unit, students compared the needs of chicks, humans, and plants in a Venn diagram.
