Grade K: Cloudy with a Chance of Flooding (K-ESS3-2)

Description

In this unit, students learn about different types of severe weather and later focus on one type of severe weather that occurs locally (floods). Students have learned prior to this unit about what is weather and have collected data based on their observations in a span of two weeks. The main goal for students is to gather information on the purpose of weather forecasting by asking questions and how that purpose will help them prepare for severe weather. Students learn how to prepare and protect themselves from floods. It’s important for students to become weather watchers by listening to weather forecasting, getting information from meteorologists on when there are severe weather warnings.
